The Story

東京の真ん中に、
昭和がそのまま残っている。In the middle of Tokyo,
the early 20th century still stands.

見るための文化財ではなく、泊まり、集い、撮るための文化財。Not a heritage to look at, but one to stay in, gather in, and film in.

夏目漱石、森鴎外をはじめとする文豪が愛した本郷。その一角に、鳳明館は佇んでいます。築百二十年を超える登録有形文化財の本館を含む三館とも、創業当時の意匠を色濃く伝えています。Hongo, the literary district loved by writers such as Soseki and Ogai. Here stands Homeikan. All three houses, including a main building over 120 years old and registered as a cultural property, still carry the craft of their founding.

創業者は普請道楽で知られ、銘木市で自ら床柱や天井板を選び、京都から職人を招いて一部屋ごとに意匠を決めたと伝わります。梅や杉など二十種を超える木が、いまも館の中で息をしています。The founder, a devotee of fine building, chose pillars and ceiling boards himself and brought craftsmen from Kyoto to design each room. More than twenty kinds of wood still breathe inside the house.

畳の上で膝を交えると、会議室では出てこない言葉が自然とほどけていきます。日帰りの社内会議からオフサイトミーティングまで、明治から続く銘木の空間を一日の舞台にどうぞ。Words find their way more freely on tatami than in a boardroom. From same-day meetings to off-site gatherings, make this Meiji-era space your stage for the day.

    最大七十名規模の宴会場。仕出し・ケータリングのご相談も承ります。A banquet hall for up to seventy guests, with catering on request.

Stay

布団を敷けば、そこは百年前。Lay out the futon, and it is a century ago.

現在は森川別館にて、和室でのご宿泊を承っています。畳の上に布団を敷く、昔ながらの旅館の夜を。Stays are currently hosted at Morikawa Annex. Futon on tatami, the night of an old Japanese inn.

次の百年へ生まれ変わる。A century-old inn,
reborn for the next hundred years.

本館と台町別館は、二〇二六年春より大規模な改修のため休館しています。古き良き建物の趣を守りながら、次の時代へ受け継ぐための、大切な時間です。The Main Building and Daimachi Annex have been closed since spring 2026 for major restoration. It is precious time, taken to carry the spirit of these buildings into the next era.

古民家再生の知見を持つ担い手とともに、伝統の意匠を残しながら快適さを備えた、これからの百年の宿を目指しています。装いを整え、再びお迎えできる日を心待ちにしています。Together with partners experienced in restoring old houses, we are working toward an inn for the next century that keeps the traditional craft while adding comfort. We look forward to welcoming you again.

本郷に根ざす、本館・森川別館・台町別館。各館の館内は三百六十度のバーチャルツアーでもご覧いただけます。Main Building, Morikawa Annex and Daimachi Annex, rooted in Hongo. Each interior can also be explored in a 360° virtual tour.
